Why is the forest exploding under us?
We were flying over the Cental Highlands in '72 in our Chinook? A B52 pilot announced over the radio for Co-ordinates XXXX by XXXX by 50 feet deep to be avoided.
Our pilots noted the radio announcement. 3 minutes later as I was looking for anti-aircraft fire the forest began disintergrating directly below our Chinook. I had never seen a B52 strike. I asked the pilots "WHY is the ground exploding beneath us?" He asked me to repeat my question. I did. Then he replied "OHH GOD...WE ARE DIRECTLY UNDER THE B52 STRIKE!"
Apparently, God took that as a prayer.
