7th AF Unit In Standdown
TAN SON NHUT AB, Vietnam (Special) --Seventh Air Force has announced the stand down of the 457th Tactical Airlift Sq. at Cam Ranh Bay AB in preparation for its inactivation on April 30.The 457th was activated as a troop carrier squadron at Cam Ranh Bay Jan. 1, 1967, and in the last five years it has airlifted a monthly average of more than 12,000 passengers and 1,100 tons of cargo in the Republic of Vietnam.Monday, April 3, 1972 and reprinted from European and Pacific Stars and Stripes, a Department of Defense publication copyright, 2002 European and Pacific Stars and Stripes.
