That must have been LTC Norbert Gannon. We were lieutenants together in the 39th Infantry in Nuremberg in the early 1950s. He came to Kontum to replace LTC Robert Altland, senior advisor to the 54th ARVN Regiment in Kontum, who went home on emergency leave and never returned. Gannon died a year or so ago.
