Just for fun, I thought I'd include a good image of what the OH-6's (LOH's) carried to help in their mission. In this pic you can clearly see the observer's modified M-60 machinegun (the barrel shortened to create a louder fire and flame--psychological effort, but for the NVA or the crewmember doing the fighting???) lounging on a door handle, the M-79 grenade launcher strapped to the center console, and smoke grenades hanging everywhere. The kevlar body armor was a must, and did save lives.
