Team 23 67-68
I was assigned as a medic to this team because there was nowhere else to put me. I remember an element of the 173rd being wiped out as I watched from the water tower in Tan Canh (42d ARVN). I climbed this tower every two days to chlorinate the water for our daily use. The battle of Dak To was remembered as the one that Westmoreland claimed as a victory, even though the enemy was not seen much. I did confront one NVA soldier we captured and he had no fear whatsoever. TET offensive of 68 was unnerving to say the least.
