Kontum Refugees and dogs
6/24/13 I have amnesia but remember things every once in a while---I was the right doorgunner on a Chinook during '72. We were flying low over the city looking for refugees. NVA tanks were roaming the streets-- As we followed above a tree-lined street I saw a Vietnamese man running very fast--his cothing was filthy and ragged. Then as he ran thru an open area I noticed several dogs at his heels trying to bring him down. I told the pilots to slow down but I couldn't get a clear shot at the dogs because of the tree-line. The left gunner told me "Just shoot him---it will be better than the dogs eating him". I don't remember the rest.
