The loss of the C-130 at Kontum
I just reviewed some of your history again and noted the May 18, 72 loss of a C130. We lost a doorgunner aboard my aircraft while rescuing one American and several Vietnamese from an overrun firebase. I have that mission on audio-tape. At any rate, I never understood the severity of the situation in total until I found your site. Thanks, Dennis Watson
I'm 54 years late finding this out. Was the doorgunner who died screaming "I'M HIT...I'M HIT...MAMMA--HELP ME"? I never forgot him calling for help from other crewmembers over the intercom. My heart breaks 54 years later for the doorgunner with no name. Good thing JESUS remembers it.
