Frank,
This is the brother famously known as "Black Pat" isn't it? He took over our first-year algebra class in late winter/early spring of 1958, after the incompetent guy who had been trying to teach us algebra was fired, as I recall. Black Pat made it very clear to us on his first day in our classroom that, if you messed with him, he would slap you hard in the face, right in front of the entire class. And he did that at least once during that spring. I do not believe that his approach to discipline would be accepted today.
