Life after La Salle

I, along with about 100 or more La Salle classmates, ended up at Providence College. I graduated as a BS-Accounting major in May 1965.

After joining the RI National Guard in March 1965, I did my basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey before moving to the Washington DC area in January 1966. With the DC National Guard, I was on active duty during the Martin Luther King uprisings. I worked my entire 34-year career with the U.S General Accountability Office (USGAO) and retired in June 2000. I spent most of my career evaluating and auditing federal health and pension programs. With GAO, I also participated in its bowling and softball leagues and playing in its annual golf tournaments. After retiring, I prepared tax returns for Jackson Hewitt until 2013 and am still doing accounting and delivery chores for a small direct mail firm.

My enjoyments included traveling (Alaska, England, Italy, Turkey, South Africa, Spain, Ireland, and the Yellowstone Park area), playing cribbage in local and national tournaments, golfing two or three times a week weather permitting with occasional trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida, and spending time with my three children and four grandchildren.
