Chuck Tallman was my Uncle. He did an interview when he was at Ft. Polk for the Center for Lessons Learned about this very action. Part of it can be found at this link: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/call/call_01-15_ch2.htm
Unfortunately he passed away in 2004, otherwise I would have him address this himself. I don't believe he received any recognition, but I'm not sure he wanted any. He was also featured in Life Magazine a few months earlier.
