Myself and another medic were tasked to go thru all the hospital buildings and salvage all that we could. There was only 2 of us and we carried .45s and M-16s without any support or additional forces for assistance. In hindsight that wasn't very bright, but we saluted and worked on the site alone for about a week. The hospital was a disaster with supplies broken and strewn all over. A lot of blood was on the walls inside the buildings. The only living thing we found was a sow and her 10 piglets running wild. Our first mistake was obvious (working alone) without support. The second mistake was trying to round up the pigs. We did it backwards by trying to catch the piglets, one by one and putting them in the 2.5 truck. After we spend most of the day on this task, it dawned us to put Mama and the truck first and the piglets would follow. DUH!
